Audit Effectiveness Matters More Than Audit Frequency

Audit Effectiveness Matters More Than Audit Frequency

Myth: More audits improve quality.
Reality: Most audits don’t change anything.

Let’s be honest.

Many organisations increase audit frequency
when performance starts slipping.

More audits.
More checklists.
More findings.

But what actually changes?
• Same issues keep coming back
• NCs are closed... but behaviour stays the same
• Audit scores improve... customer complaints don’t
________________________________________

Because the problem is not audit quantity.
It is audit effectiveness.

What usually goes wrong:
• Audits focus on documents, not process behaviour
• Findings are safe, not system-challenging
• Closure is about compliance, not correction
• No link between audit output and process control changes
________________________________________

So yes...

You can run 50 audits a year
and still run the same broken system.
________________________________________

Real shift needed:
• From checklist → process thinking
• From NC closure → recurrence prevention
• From auditor → system challenger
• From audit report → process intervention
________________________________________

The uncomfortable truth:
An audit that does not change behaviour
is just a formal observation exercise.
________________________________________

If your audit results look good...
but your performance does not improve...

You don’t need more audits.
You need better audits.

When was the last time your audit
actually changed how the process runs?
