Prepare for handover early

Keep documentation, actions and operating responsibilities connected.

Plan the evidence

Define the handover information and acceptance arrangements before commissioning. Record responsibilities for test plans, reports, drawings, operating instructions and outstanding actions.

Keep open points visible

Track punch-list items and classify the decisions required under the project’s agreed arrangements. A completed document register is not proof of equipment performance or safe operation.

Prepare the operating organisation

Review operating roles, maintenance arrangements, training, emergency preparedness and warranty interfaces. Use actual records when verifying that an activity has been completed.

Confirm who accepts

Distinguish a consultant’s review observations from the owner’s acceptance decision and any separate authority approval. Record unresolved conditions and the responsibility for follow-up.

Applying this to your project

Project-specific advice requires a defined scope, verified inputs and the involvement of the responsible competent parties.
